The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service is a leader in providing research-based information to enhance the lives of Oklahomans. Health and wellness programming targeting infants through advanced aging is available throughout the state. The Oklahoma 4-H Youth Development Program also offers programs and activities to help its members increase their activity level and gain knowledge in the area of healthy food selection and preparation.

DASNR health & wellness initiatives

Highlights

  • Extension’s Co-Parenting for Resilience served 2,798 participants, 96 percent of whom indicated they learned new ways to be an effective parent and 92 percent said they would recommend the program to a friend going through a divorce.
  • Participants in Family and Consumer Science Extension financial management programs reported a 58 percent increase in intent to regularly track income & spending.
  • The Cooking for Kids skills-development program helped 294 school nutrition professionals representing 93 Oklahoma school districts build expertise in providing flavorful and healthy school breakfast and lunch programs.
  • Extension-trained Master Gardeners donated approximately 1,200 pounds of fresh-grown produce to local food pantries, kitchens, shelters and programs throughout Oklahoma.
